Suvarna Prashan (also called Swarna Prashana and Swarna Bindu Prashana) is an ayurvedic technique to enhance immunity and improve the intelligence of children.
Swarna Prashana acts on the mind, brain, immune system, and skin. It promotes growth and development, maintains health, builds resistance to infections by developing non-specific immunity, and improves complexion.
Swarna Prashana is effective for precluding upper respiratory tract infections and preventing common cold and flu. It can also prevent other diseases later in the life. This concept has no limitation only to bacterial or viral infections.
Micro-fine and Calcined gold particles, also called Swarna Bhasma, is used with medicated ayurvedic gheee (clarified butter) and honey in unequal amounts in this process.
Dosage and prepartion of swarna prashana
The exact dosage is not described in Kashyapa Sanhita. Therefore, the dosage of Swarna bhasma should be calculated for infant and children on the basis of its adult dosage.
Different classical test write different dosage of Swarna Prashana, which varies from 15 mg to 125 mg, but now adays, the most accepted dosage of Swarna Prashan in ayurvedic practice is 15 to 30 mg twice a daily. Therefore amount of Swarna Bhasma in Swarna Prashan can be calculated on this dosage.
According to the calculation of Swarna Bhasma dosage for infants and children, 1 to 15 mg Swarna Bhasma should be present in a single dosage of Swarna Prashana.
Some ayurvedic doctors also calculate dosage according to body weight of the child. Swarna Bhasma in dosage of 0.25 to 0.50 mg per Kg body weight in a single dosage of Swarna Prashana should be the ideal dosage for infants and children (up to age of 16 years), but the total dosage should not exceed 30 mg per day if child is overweight.
The single dosage is also considered effective if taken immediately after birth or as soon as possible following the birth. It can be repeated every month for enhanced preventive effects.
It is also recommended to use daily basis for 30 days to 6 months according to Kashyapa Samhita for the desired effects on immunity and intelligence. Obviously, the regular use will be more effective than single use.
