Heart and Cardiovascular System...HYPERTENSION.


HYPERTENSION means high blood pressure a silent killer. Most of the cases we cannot ascertain the cause of hypertension so its called essential hypertension and in other cases hypertension related to any other systemic diseases. Some facts that may contribute to hypertension are obesity, alcohol, stress steroids, oral contraceptives pills and diabetes mellitus.


Normal blood pressure range varies with age. However in younger adults 140/90 also considered as high blood pressure.

Most of the cases are asymptomatic, where in others following sign and symptom could be present. 
Headache, itrritability, palpitation, giddiness

1) Garlic is the herb of choice - Peel and crush 3-4 cloves of garlic and take them once a day with glass of buttermilk.
2) Take handful of drumstick leaves, boil them in little water. Grind it and have it like a soup twice a day after food.


DIET and LIFESTYLE CONSIDERATION

1) Reduce weight by cutting down animal fat, hydrogenated vegetable oil. Brisk walking for 45 min an easy and effective exercise.
2) Take whole wheat with bran, if you are obese use bajra and millets instead of wheat.
3)Include curry leaves, cucumber, raddish with leaves, lemon etc 
4) Reduce salt intake, salt causes water retention and again increases blood pressure.
5) Meditate or listen to music for everyday 30 mins.
6) Try to quit smoking and drinking.


Ayyurvedic medicines like Sarpagandha, tagar, jatamansi etc are taken under supervision.
